Friday Favorites: Wildflower Linen Giveaway!!!!

Hey Ya’ll,

Today’s Friday Favorite is one of my biggest sources of design inspiration as an event planner and one of the leading designers and producers of specialty table linens and chair covers for event rentals in the world: Wildflower Linen.

Founder Youngsong Martin, formerly a nationally known fashion designer and marketer of high-style women’s apparel, launched Wildflower Linen in 2001. I personally had the pleasure of working with her for the first time while hosting the show “Shedding for the Wedding”.

Her full-service rental company has since redefined the special-event linen industry in terms of style, glamor and customer care, while becoming a prestigious provider to clients nationwide and abroad, for functions of all sizes, budgets and occasions.

As an event planner and designer, I often log onto the Wildflower Linen website to see what is new for the season, or what they have to offer and find inspiration there.

Linen is a great place to make a statement when designing an event because tables often take up a large portion of a venue and this allows you to incorporate color, patterns and really create a unique space.

Wildflower Linen’s gorgeous line of rental table linens and chair covers has not only dressed the tables of high-end events like the ones that I have helped produce over the years, they’ve also been featured on the big screen in Hollywood blockbusters like The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part”, as the exclusive linens of Edward and Bella’s wedding!

Now, I don’t know if any of you consider yourselves “Twi-hards”, but even if you’ve never seen the popular vampire flicks, you have to admit that’s pretty cool!

Wildflower Linen also recently launched their new line of accessories, some of which were inspired by “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” series. The new line features specialty items like table runners, decorative pillow cushions, napkin rings and candle collections including the “Kristy Rice for Wildflower Linen” Collection. And today, they are giving away a chic table runner to one of my lucky readers!!! See below for an example of their table runners, and to find out how to enter…

Acrylic and Lace: Wedding Design No.1 from My Hotel Del Coronado Photo Shoot

Hey Ya’ll,

I recently posted a sneak peek of the photo shoot my YourBASH! business partner and I did at the Hotel Del Coronado, and I’m happy to announce that I now have all of the photos and videos documenting each of the eight unique looks we created for the shoot!

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be spotlighting each individual design. Today, I’m sharing photos of the “Acrylic and Lace” theme we designed for the hotel’s Carousel Room, plus, breaking the look down for you to re-create on your own... Here we go!

Wildflower Linens has created a stunning lace overlay that could easily be the foundation for one of the most sophisticated and stylish wedding dresses of 2012, so I thought what better way to represent my personal approach to designing a reception than incorporating this lace into the design.

The Anastasia Ivory lace overlay will find itself atop a Shimmer Stardust linen that dazzles the eye and gives just the right amount of pop.

Large hammered pearl vases take center stage on the table brimming with potted Phalanopsis Orchids.

Marabou boas come in every color of the rainbow, which makes them easy to incorporate into the decor of any wedding.

We also intertwined marabou boas to soften the leaves of the orchids and provide the necessary height to the tables that give you nothing but eye-candy. This presentation is not only stunning, but is also eco-friendly in that no cut flowers were used and the potted arrangements will live long after the wedding reception ends.

Clear Ghost Chairs were used rather than a traditional chiavari or ballroom chair to give a little edge to the ultra-romantic softness of the lace overlay. The chairs also reflect the light, which finishes off this chic vignette.

Wedding Designs to Inspire: La Costa Resort and Spa Photo Shoot

Hey Ya’ll,

Last week, my YourBASH! business partner and I rolled up our sleeves to stage two wedding ceremonies and one beautiful reception for a photo shoot at the LaCosta Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, CA. We only had a few days to plan and pull together both looks, but with the help of a few great vendors (see list below), everyone was pleased with how they turned out…

For the yellow and white ceremony, the resort itself—which is a clean white throughout, inspired me. As far as the linens and cushions we used, I thought that they complimented the environment that we were shooting in. Meaning, I think that it is always best to work with what you are given and make it feel like the design belongs rather than contradict what is already established.

Printed materials compliments of Jenn Sbranti at Hostess with the Mostess.

We used white tufted benches mixed with white leather chairs for the yellow and white ceremony set-up, which created a unique look with a lot of texture and different levels.   Also, because this is a new space for the resort and recently renovated, I thought that this was a perfect color combination to evoke a fresh, clean and joyful feeling.

We added clear ghost chairs for dining, which quickly created a more contemporary and modern look.

TIP: Yellow and white is a great combination for a bride that is wearing a white dress with clean lines and is not afraid of a pop of color!

For the green ceremony set-up, I wanted it to be totally different than the white and yellow! As you can see, it has a much more organic style, with the wood chairs and canopy frame creating a sturdy masculine feel, but the light blue chair cushions and unique combination of flowers softening the space and giving it a sort of garden feeling.

What do you think of the two different designs that we created? Which ceremony set-up would you chose? Let me know in the comment section below.
