Screen Shot 2013-04-24 at 12.08.04 PM

Hey Ya’ll,

I’m back to add a little bit of fun to an otherwise busy work week! Today’s wedding style quiz includes three very different sets of floral arrangements that are perfect for three very different kinds of weddings.

Screen Shot 2013-04-24 at 11.41.42 AMSo… if you were getting married tomorrow, and you had to chose one of these floral themes for your wedding, which one would you chose?

Wedding Style Quiz #2 – The Results Are In!

Screen Shot 2013-04-09 at 5.27.03 PM

Hey Ya’ll,

Since yesterday’s wedding dress pop quiz was so much fun, I thought today I’d post three very different veil options to see which one would come out on top…

Screen Shot 2013-04-09 at 5.25.34 PMAs it turns out, ya’ll definitely preferred veil #3! I love a long, lace veil. It’s dramatic yet classic and can transform a simple white dress into a stunning wedding gown. However, if your dress already has a lot going on and makes a statement of its own, I think it’s smart to forgo the veil all together and opt for a flower or something with a little sparkle to wear in your hair.

Which one would you wear if you had to chose one of the above options?

Be sure to Follow Me on Facebook so that you can participate in my next wedding style quiz! I’m thinking… flowers!

SID 4-1-2013034

Hey Ya’ll,

Last year, I posted about my cousin Stacy, who at the time, I was meeting with to plan her summer wedding at the Grand Del Mar.  I’m so happy to finally be able to report that the stunning event went off without a hitch last July, and is currently being featured in this month’s California Wedding Day magazine!

SID 4-1-2013041We’re still waiting for one more publication to feature her beautiful wedding, but after that I’ll be posting a series of blogs all about Stacy and Mack’s wedding and the planning that went into each detail of their big day. If you’re in the throws of wedding planning or you just LOVE seeing how a big, fabulous event comes together, you won’t want to miss this upcoming series!

In the meantime, pick up a copy of California Wedding Day and look for my work in the ‘20 Real Weddings’ section!

Fresh Idea: DIY Paper Runner

geometric-paper-runner
Hey Ya’ll,

I’m always in search of creative ways to give my parties a fun, personalized touch! So, when I saw this cute DIY Paper Runner project on one of my favorite blogs, “Oh Happy Day”, I decided to share it with you here.

logogeometric-paper-runner2This project is a creative and easy way to save money on expensive table linens for your next dinner party or even a formal event like a wedding. Once completed, you can use this runner without a tablecloth, or dress it up by pairing it with your favorite solid or patterned table linens.
Screen Shot 2013-01-15 at 5.50.14 PMAll you’ll need is a pair of scissors, a roll of Kraft paper, some paint, and a paintbrush! You can do this on brown paper using white paint (as shown), or use white or black paper, or even colored paper. The same goes for the paint, just be sure to keep it simple. You might even try using stencils to paint on your paper if you’d like it to look a little cleaner or attempt a more intricate design.

Let me know if you decide to attempt this project! It looks as fun to make as it does on the table.

Show Some Personality with Signature Drinks at Your Wedding!

Hey Ya’ll,

Today’s tip is one of the easiest ways to show your personality as a couple on your wedding day: Signature drinks!

Image via Southernliving.com

There is a specialty cocktail recipe that works with just about any color scheme you can dream up with for wedding, so try to use these colors both in the drink and in the garnishes.

Doing so will add another pop of your signature colors not only to the drink station, but also as people move around the venue with their cocktail in hand.

Get creative with your garnishes! Fruit works great, but you can also make drink stirrers with ribbons or pom poms on top, or even purchase cute straws with a stripe or polka dots!

Try to think outside of the box in terms of what you can use as a drink stirrer!

Last but not least, take some time to create a recipe card that will let your guests know that you have created a signature drink for the day (maybe even his & hers!).

You can print your signature drink announcement out and frame it or simply write it on a mini-chalkboard, but let your guests know what’s in it if they’re pre-made or how to make the drink if it’s DIY. Cheers!

Personalize Your Wedding with Monograms + Logos

Image via ProjectWedding.com

Hey Ya’ll,

Today, I’ve got another tip for you as featured by Wedding Bells magazine. It’s one of my most favorite ways to top a cake or add a little flair to a dance floor, and a great way to infuse your personality into your wedding day: Monograms!

Image via MarthaStewartWeddings.com

Consider incorporating monograms or logos throughout your celebration for an extra personal touch.

The logo above represented the couple attending the University of Texas. The lights feature the university’s longhorn mascot in one of the school colors – burnt orange.

The best part of creating your very own wedding logo is that it can be used in so many different ways, from your wedding invitations, to your place settings, cocktail napkins, your wedding favors, on your cake, your gift table, it can even be projected on a wall in lights or on your dance floor.

In my opinion, the more personalized you can make your space, the more fun it will be planning and seeing everything come together on your wedding day!
