In Vegas for Engage! 12

Hey ya’ll,

Just wanted to check in with you all and let you know that I’m in Vegas for Engage! 12. I’m having such a great time so far, who wouldn’t love getting all this fun swag?

Yesterday, I participated in a hosted lunch where the guests drew cards with different speaker’s picture on them and asked questions about our businesses in order to get to know each other better. Here’s mine:

This morning I’m speaking in front of everyone at the event. So thank you, for your thoughtful suggestions on what to include in my presentation I’ve decided to speak about my process for designing Hollywood type events and my inspiration for designing weddings. Keep your fingers crossed that it goes smoothly!

For real-time photos of the event (you can probably spot me in a few!), click HERE.

I’ll be in Vegas until Friday. Let me know in the comment section below if you have any suggestions for things to do while I’m here!

March Wedding Series: Eloping in the 21st Century

via myyosemitewedding.com

Hey Ya’ll,

For the final post in my March Wedding Series, I was inspired by an article I recently read in the New York Times about an interesting wedding trend that’s on the rise… guest-free weddings!

You heard me right. All the fabulousness of a big, elaborate wedding, including the bride, the groom, the dress, the suit, the cake, the food, the flowers, the location, and the photographer, minus all of the usual guests. Think of it as the modern day equivalent to eloping, without all of the shame. Or as an elaborate photo shoot, starring the couple at whatever beautiful setting they choose for their intimate ceremony for two.

This modern twist on your average wedding not only saves couples a lot of money, especially when you consider the cost of catering alone, but also, for the most part, completely eliminates the usual stress, worry, and anxiety associated with planning a wedding.

Not only this, but in terms of location, not having any guests means the sky’s the limit! Atop a picturesque snow-capped mountain, on a sailboat in Greece, a private garden in Paris, or a beautiful remote island–they’re are all viable options when you don’t have guests to take into consideration! In fact, many hotels and resorts have noticed the trend and are currently offering elopement packages coordinated by a full-time, on-site wedding consultant.

So what do you think about this modern take on eloping? Would you have a wedding with zero guests? Why or why not? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
