Friday Favorites: Blue Topaz and Truffle!

blue topaz and truffle

Hey Ya’ll,

For today’s Friday Fav, I chose a lovely palette of blue topaz and truffle!

Simply add some light pink for spring, white for a summer feel, a deep merlot for the fall, or silver for winter, and you can throw a wedding using these two basic colors all year round!

Both colors are neutral, earthy, and crisp while maintaining a rich elegant combination.

They can also be accented with a splash of bright colors like yellow or orange for a bold contrast to the calming hues of brown and blue.

This combo works perfectly for a beach wedding because it compliments the natural surroundings.

Friday Favorites: Copper!

Hey Ya’ll,

I’m starting something new called “Friday Favorites”, which is just a fun way to share my current obsessions and design inspirations with you! As promised, and for my very first Friday Fav, today’s post is all about copper!

Copper!

As far as I’m concerned, copper is THE metallic accent for weddings this year. Gold and silver have been the standbys forever, but with new and unique copper items becoming more available, the ability to use copper throughout the year is much easier and more creative.

Copper has typically been used solely during the autumn, but now it can be used year round and looks good with succulents and greens during the summer or with hot pink and turquoise during the spring. I like copper as the new alternative when looking for that final accent color for the perfect design. Copper also looks great with burgundy and orange during the fall and you can easily mix it with gold and silver during the winter to create a metallic wonderland.

Wedding Designs to Inspire: La Costa Resort and Spa Photo Shoot

Hey Ya’ll,

Last week, my YourBASH! business partner and I rolled up our sleeves to stage two wedding ceremonies and one beautiful reception for a photo shoot at the LaCosta Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, CA. We only had a few days to plan and pull together both looks, but with the help of a few great vendors (see list below), everyone was pleased with how they turned out…

For the yellow and white ceremony, the resort itself—which is a clean white throughout, inspired me. As far as the linens and cushions we used, I thought that they complimented the environment that we were shooting in. Meaning, I think that it is always best to work with what you are given and make it feel like the design belongs rather than contradict what is already established.

Printed materials compliments of Jenn Sbranti at Hostess with the Mostess.

We used white tufted benches mixed with white leather chairs for the yellow and white ceremony set-up, which created a unique look with a lot of texture and different levels.   Also, because this is a new space for the resort and recently renovated, I thought that this was a perfect color combination to evoke a fresh, clean and joyful feeling.

We added clear ghost chairs for dining, which quickly created a more contemporary and modern look.

TIP: Yellow and white is a great combination for a bride that is wearing a white dress with clean lines and is not afraid of a pop of color!

For the green ceremony set-up, I wanted it to be totally different than the white and yellow! As you can see, it has a much more organic style, with the wood chairs and canopy frame creating a sturdy masculine feel, but the light blue chair cushions and unique combination of flowers softening the space and giving it a sort of garden feeling.

What do you think of the two different designs that we created? Which ceremony set-up would you chose? Let me know in the comment section below.
