We used a combination of wood rectangle tables and rounds with simple textured pleated white linen from La Tavola.
In years past, I believe that the trend for a setting as basic as this would be to accessorize the reception space with metallic accents of silver or gold, with as many dripping crystals as possible, but I think that trend is being left in 2011.
We styled the space utilizing only natural elements in shades of brown like the wood from the tables and the stunning ceiling of the hotel’s Crown Room. In addition to the organic elements of the most pure and basic color; white.
The wood tables provide a shape that is not the standard for a reception and also give strength and weight to a room that is powerful and has an almost masculine feel.
The white of the chairs, linens, napkins, table runner and furniture, soften the room and help to show that it is truly possible to create an understated but fantastic look using this simple and sweet color.
And let’s not forget, Kate Middleton brought simplistic style and grace back to getting married with her wedding last year…
And as one of the world’s most popular trend-setters in fashion — and having been married in front of the entire world — it is only fitting that brides this year will follow suit and scale back their bouquets, cap the sleeves of their wedding dresses, and wear their hair down and loose for a truly romantic look.
All in all, I’d say that between my design and the royal wedding you’ve got plenty of great reasons to keep your wedding ‘simply white’!
