Brian Worley008 (3)Hey Ya’ll,

Did you know that one of my favorite wedding websites, www.theknot.com, also publishes a gorgeous n’ glossy magazine? In fact, I’m featured in the current issue of The Knot: Southern California (on newsstands now through August 2013) and you can find my advice, along with a few other industry experts, in the STYLE section, in an article called, “6 Ways to Style Your Wedding”.

Brian Worley007The photography that accompanies the article is really cute. I hope you’ll pick up a copy the next time you’re out! Here’s a sneak peek at the rest of the feature…

Brian Worley013Brian Worley018Brian Worley019Brian Worley020You’ll have to buy a copy of the magazine to read my advice, since the text is a bit too small to read here! I just wanted to give you all a heads up and give you a feel for the layout of the feature. Make it a great day, everyone!

Engage! 13 Re-Cap

Screen Shot 2013-06-03 at 12.21.28 PMHey Ya’ll,

Engage! 13 in Ashville, North Carolina just wrapped and I have to say it ranks as one of the most fun times I have ever had.  The location of the Biltmore Estate could not have been a more picturesque and ideal location for a luxury wedding summit and this was by far, LUXURY!
photo[7]The wedding summit took place from Sunday to Wednesday morning and was made up of speeches from top industry professionals like my friend Ceci Johnson who I have featured many times on my blog who does incredible invitations among other things, my friend Marcy Blum, who is a both hilarious and an incredible wedding planner out of NYC, just to name a few.
9407_10151629098258812_1726885421_nYou can also go to the Engage! 13 website for a list of speakers and of course the list for the next Engage! event,
http://www.engage13.com,
which takes place in Scotsdale, AZ at the Montelucia.  If you are a wedding planner, photographer, or somehow involved in the wedding industry this is the premiere event to attend.

226703_10151629099298812_1234178545_nFor a group of people in the event industry, we are treated like royalty, there are incredible gift bags and branded goodies showered upon us the entire time. It is almost like you are having a birthday for four days.

Many of the goodies were provided by www.giftsforthegoodlife.com and http://www.karentran.com/

photo[9] photo[4]I got a bow tie (above) in my welcome bag and decided to try my hand at tying it for the second evening event which is a dine around where the guests are each assigned a different speaker to dine with which is an incredible opportunity for more networking and more personalized conversation.

936670_10151629098513812_1046932796_nEach evening there is a party that are all about networking, socializing and making new friends.  The final night party was the party to end all parties…

389353_10151629098473812_1955603600_nphoto[14]Karen Tran who did the flowers on Shedding for the Wedding created a Gatsbyesque party full of lush flowers that would blow any bride away.

photo[12]Of course, the setting, a tent next to the historic Vanderbilt mansion was not too shabby a location for a spectacular evening.

photo[13]My friend Josh Friedman from Elan Artist (he also provided the incredible band for my birthday party back in September!) put together an evening of the best talent including burlesque dancers, cigarette girls, singers and a woman who pretty much stripped to not much and powdered herself with a giant powder puff!

gatsbyEveryone, well mostly the women, were dressed for the theme and if you take a look at my pictures you can see that they were spot on with their decor inspired costumes.  Then, to top off an already extraordinary night, there were fireworks…

Cheers! To the two hostesses with the mostest (below) who organized this incredible experience Kathryn Arce and Rebecca Grinnals of www.engagingconcepts.com.

photo[4]I had such an incredible time, I am back home now and require some much needed sleep after staying up until 3am Sunday night, 2am Monday night, and 4:30am on Tuesday evening after the party just enjoying the opportunity to get to know people who are competitors and now we are colleagues and friends. So many great memories made.

My Top 5 Mother’s Day Gifts to Give!

Screen Shot 2013-05-10 at 11.46.52 AMHey Ya’ll,

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 12. Do you know what you’re giving your mother? If you haven’t picked anything out yet and you’re feeling a bit lost, I have five ideas that any mom would love to receive!

1. Succulent Planter
There are a few options if this is the perfect gift for your mom, you can stop by your local flower shop and pick out your favorite succulents and have them put them in a planter for you there or you can by a pre-arranged planter online. You can even get a cute monogrammed planter using your mother’s initial from RootedinSucculents on Etsy.

image_431_8_10552. Photo Locket
This is for the super-sentimental mama! If you’re mom is the type that likes to keep you close at all times, give her a cute photo locket in either bracelet or necklace form so that she can do just that! I think it would be cute to put an old photo of you as a child or one of you on your wedding day–but regardless of the photo, make sure the jewelry is your mother’s style. This locket from Planet Jill is nice because the photo is covered by a coin-sized metal plate that you can have engraved with her initials.

This is for the sun-loving mama! Give this fashionable tote bag from Target to your mother and pack it to the brim with wonderful beach goodies like one of these gorgeous Nate Berkus beach towels below (also at Target!), her favorite sunscreen, and maybe even a water bottle and some beach reading materials!

4. Shoes (Duh.)
I don’t care WHO your mother is… you can never go wrong with a new pair of kicks! Tennis shoes, high heels, flip flops, whatever she prefers, scoop her up a new pair and she will be all smiles on Mother’s Day! Try these sassy cheetah print sandals from J Crew or add some flair to her wardrobe with these bright red jelly flats by Tory Burch.

Screen Shot 2013-05-10 at 11.33.32 AM5. Passport Holder and World Map
This is for all those mother’s who need a vacation! I love Rebecca Minkoff’s passport wallets that look like mini-clutch bags! Or you could get a classic Tiffany blue passport cover. I really love the idea of proposing a trip in your card and then letting her pick where she’d like to go! You could even include a pen for her to put a star on the map over the place she’d like to visit, then, someday after you have taken the trip together, you can frame it with a photo of you both! If you can’t find a reasonably priced world map, try a the gift wrap section for map wrapping paper!

Wedding Style Quiz #2 – The Results Are In!

Screen Shot 2013-04-09 at 5.27.03 PM

Hey Ya’ll,

Since yesterday’s wedding dress pop quiz was so much fun, I thought today I’d post three very different veil options to see which one would come out on top…

Screen Shot 2013-04-09 at 5.25.34 PMAs it turns out, ya’ll definitely preferred veil #3! I love a long, lace veil. It’s dramatic yet classic and can transform a simple white dress into a stunning wedding gown. However, if your dress already has a lot going on and makes a statement of its own, I think it’s smart to forgo the veil all together and opt for a flower or something with a little sparkle to wear in your hair.

Which one would you wear if you had to chose one of the above options?

Be sure to Follow Me on Facebook so that you can participate in my next wedding style quiz! I’m thinking… flowers!

NEW – Wedding Style Quiz

Screen Shot 2013-04-09 at 5.39.03 PMHey Ya’ll,

Earlier today, I decided to do a quick wedding style quiz! I pulled three very different wedding dress images and then posted them to my Facebook page with the following caption: If you were getting married tomorrow (go with it!), which dress would you choose?

Screen Shot 2013-04-08 at 4.44.04 PM

The results are in! According to my Facebook friends, the best choice is Dress #2. I can see why ladies would want to wear this beautiful dress by LAZARO. It has a lot of the details most bride’s dream of wearing on their special day. It’s strapless, has a fitted bodice, a full tulle skirt, and the flower details around the waist, in addition to the subtle sparkle and blush color, make it really feminine and fun.

Which dress would you chose? Let me know, and please LIKE me on Facebook (

) so that you can get in on all of my upcoming wedding style quizzes. Heads up, I’ll be posting another one tomorrow!
